In Oregon, the state supreme court refers to lawyers involved in bar discipline matters as the “accused.” I sense I am about to become an “accused,” again — a “respondent” in a disciplinary proceeding.
WSBA counsel sent a letter to me which arrived yesterday saying she had transmitted the grievance and her work to a Review Committee. She is asking the Review Committee to “order the matter to hearing.”
I spent an uncomfortable afternoon thinking of what might befall me. After a good night of sleep, I awoke with a different feeling. As much as I disliked the feeling yesterday (and the feelings I will experience in future), I enjoyed the quiet reflection of what I find myself involved in. I can hardly believe what I am doing.
